Chloe Johnson started dance at the age of 4 with the Zorya Ukrainian Dance Association here in Thunder Bay. At the age of 16 she made the change to get training in ballet, jazz, character, and hip hop under the instruction of the teachers at International Dance Academy (IDA).
She stayed at IDA for two years and after high-school she moved to Victoria, BC to chase her dreams of becoming a movie star. She graduated with a Diploma of Performing Arts from the 2-year intensive performing arts program at the Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA). During her time at CCPA, she studied ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theatre, vocal ensemble, acting, and physical theatre just to name a few. She also completed a 2nd year choreography mentorship in hip hop, choreographed and rapped original pieces for the Year 2 Play. She can also be seen in CCPA’s productions of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Young Frankenstein, and Metamorphosis.
After CCPA, Chloe stayed in BC for one more year and had the pleasure of performing in Kaleidoscope Theatre’s production of The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy. During that year, she also danced at Vibestreet Dance Studio and was fortunate enough to dance under the instruction of Canadian hip hop choreographer Scott Forsyth.
Chloe is now happy to be back in Thunder Bay and is currently a student at Lakehead University, and has also gone back to her roots by dancing with Zorya. She is excited to be joining the IDA teaching team to share the love she has for hip hop and musical theatre, and hopes she can inspire others to chase their dreams.
