Registrations for all classes ages 2 to adult will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 pm.
International Dance Academy is so excited to welcome former IDA student back for a guest workshop. Portia is a graduate of Etobicoke School of the Arts (1990) Koln Summer Academy and alumna of Canada’s National Ballet School Teacher Training Program (1990-93). Portia attended University of Toronto with a double minor in Film Studies and English Literature (1993-97). During her academic studies, she was asked to take over ballet classes from Rosemary Antze at Hart House in 1998; Ms Wade currently teaches at UofT.
Her tours include: Nairobi Kenya, Malaga Spain, Shenzhen China as well as Windsor Ontario with both the Royal Academy of Dance and American Ballet Theater training methods.
Ms Wade is an ABT ® Certified Teacher who has successfully completed the ABT ® Teacher Training in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the National Training Curriculum. In 2015 and 2017 students travelled from Toronto to New York to participate in exams held at American Ballet Theater JKO School. Examiners Jenna Bitterman and former Artistic Director of JKO School awarded excellent results including Honours. Ms Wade is the only Canadian ballet teacher to present students in New York for ABT exams. She has also hosted ABT exam sessions in Toronto at Havergal College.
Currently teaching ABT classes at the Citadel e Compagnie (citadelcie.com). Ms Wade’s other summer schools include guest faculty at Sean Boutielier Academy of Dance in Mississauga as well as guest instructor in Windsor at Dance Barre and for In Studio classes at the National Ballet of Canada.
She looks forward to returning to her hometown of Thunder Bay and sharing her knowledge from aboard.
