She participated in various sports and activities growing up including dance (tap, jazz, ballet), gymnastics, soccer, track & field and theatre up until high school, where she found her true passion – cheerleading. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s High School field and competitive cheerleading team for the entire 5 years she attended high school, being given the honour of being team captain for her last 3 years.
She started coaching at Pope John Paul during her last year of high school at age 18 and continued to coach for the next 14 years, coaching at the junior and the high school level. She is certified at the highest level of coaching in Ontario and as well has taken a cheerleading judges course and various other cheerleading training courses throughout her coaching career.
Katie has a daughter who is a Troupe dancer at IDA. Katie loves to volunteer and help out at the studio and any studio events whenever possible. She loves taking the adult classes that are offered at IDA.
Katie is excited to be able to bring her passion for cheerleading and her renewed love of dance to IDA in the form of “Pom Cheer”. She is looking forward to working with the amazing students at IDA to expand their creative options.
