Jade Christian

Instructor, Choreographer

Jade was born and raised in Thunder Bay and has been dancing since the age of three. She has studied and performed a variety of styles, including hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, modern and contemporary.

She graduated from Confederation College, receiving a diploma in Early Childhood Education, Lakehead University, with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree, with a minor in Sociology, and Durham College with a graduate certificate in Communicative Disorders Assistant. Jade is a fully certified Instructor with Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) for both Jazz and Tap.

Since the age of seven, Jade has competed in local and out-of-town competitions. She has competed in groups, duets, and trios, winning top overall awards such as People’s & Judge’s Choice awards, Encore Performances, and multiple scholarships.

As a student of the International Dance Academy for 12 years, she completed ADAPT exams in both jazz and tap and became an assistant at the age of 13. She has been involved with performances in the community, including Dance for a Cure for Alzheimer’s, Valhalla Gala with the Hammarskjold Dance Team, and The Lakehead Music Festival Yearly Gala. Jade danced for the Lakehead University Dance Team and was a captain in her final year.

Since starting as an instructor at IDA in 2015, Jade has taught and choreographed for students locally, throughout Ontario, and in the United States. Jade has choreographed and won various Judge’s Choice, Overall Placing, and High Scoring routines. In July of 2022, Jade completed her three-year Teachers Training School with the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) Certified Teacher.

Jade is very excited to continue to share her knowledge and love for dance with the students at IDA.
